  Halloween Fun for the Whole Family at Butterfly Pavilion’s Bug-A-Boo Trick-or-Treating!

     Be the hero for your kids this Halloween and take them to Butterfly Pavilion’s Bug-A-Boo! This family-friendly tradition combines safe, indoor trick-or-treating with the magic of butterflies, spiders, and other amazing creatures. Kids of all ages are encouraged to come in costume and make their way through candy and toy stations set up throughout the zoo. Bug-A-Boo takes place during the last two weekends of October from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., plus a special After Hours Bug-A-Boo on Halloween night, October 31 from 5–7 p.m. A Halloween adventure like nowhere else in Colorado!      If you're looking for an engaging fun fall activity that's perfect for the entire family, look no further than Oktoberfest on the Leadville Railroad. Join us on board every Saturday and Sunday in October for a beautiful fall train ride. The Leadville Railroad will be departing from our historic brick depot at 326 E. 7th St. Leadville Colorado for a fun filled 2.5 hour scenic train trip. Featuring delicious seasonal libations including local beers, hot cocoa and hot apple cider. This trip is great for the whole family to enjoy. Come prepared for the crisp mountain weather! We recommend extra coats and jackets, gloves or a blanket to snuggle with! The picturesque 2.5 hour trip includes captivating conductor commentary, with details about Leadville's colorful history and railroading in the area, not only that but you will get to see beautiful panoramic views of the upper Arkansas River Valley and two of Colorado's tallest peaks, MT. ELBERT and MT. MASSIVE, not to mention a stop at a historic steam engine water tower, where you can get off the train and explore part of the San Isabel National Forest! Is this train ride good for kids? Yes! We love having friends, families and even the dog on board our Oktoberfest train rides. (we will ask you to sign a waver for your pet once on board, please see FAQ for more details) What can you see during the 2.5 hour excursion? The first snowfall? The first ice storm? A bit of Halloween excitement? This is the time to relax and enjoy family and friends, bring the camera and a blanket then snuggle up with some hot cider, or other seasonal beverage. This Halloween, the entire park transforms into a spooky, pirate-themed adventure filled with tricks, treats, and festive fun.
